Snow?

I left for Chicago right after school on Friday to see family for the holidays. A few days before, I saw that flights were being cancelled due to a snow storm. My cupcakes and I were reading a book about snow and I told them that a big storm was supposed to come to Illinois and Mrs. Dapcic would see lots of snow when she got to Chicago. I promised to blog about the snow when I landed. Well.....The snow storm was really just a light dusting of snow. But as promised to the children, here is a picture Mr. Dapcic took of me in the snow. Brrrrrrrrr! I can't wait to return to the Florida sunshine!

Happy Holidays from Mrs. Dapcic's Cupcakes!

Snowflake's Final Week!

We had a lot of fun with our elf Snowflake this month! He definitely kept my cupcakes entertained. This was our final week with Snowflake. He must go back to the North Pole now and help Santa finish making presents. But don't worry, he will be back next year!

On Monday, Snowflake rounded up all of the runaway gingerbread men and kept them busy with a read aloud.

On Tuesday, he noticed that we were missing something very important for our gingerbread houses. Good thing he brought enough for everyone!
On Wednesday,  Snowflake brought us the ingredients and recipe for Reindeer Food.
On Thursday,  he got into Mrs. Dapcic's closet and took out some of her cooking tools. We think he wanted to help with our pancake lesson. Mrs. Melton brought in her electric skillet and we made chocolate chip pancakes.
On Friday, Snowflake wore his apron for gingerbread house decorating. He also brought us a "goodbye" letter.

My Precious Cupcakes

During the school day I am responsible for 18 little learners and their safety and happiness. They are my priority every day. Words cannot express the sadness in my heart after the tragic events of last Friday. I want to assure my kindergarten families that our school is ready and prepared to assist students with any grief or fears they may have. We have two guidance counselors and a school psychologist on staff to help counsel students if necessary. Your children are very important to me and I want to make sure they feel safe at school. Please feel free to contact our school with any questions or concerns.

Snowflake's Third Week

Snowflake had another busy week! He was playing around in the classroom all week long.

On Monday, we got to eat cookies that grew from our cookie seeds from Mrs. Claus. Snowflake had one too!
On Tuesday, Snowflake sprinkled white glitter all over Mrs. Dapcic's desk. My cupcakes think that Snowflake was pretending to play in the snow. Silly elf!

On Wednesday, he took a candy cane bath!
On Thursday, Snowflake got into the word work stamps and started stamping a letter to Santa. He sat with an elf made by Mrs. Dapcic the day before.
On Friday, Snowflake decided to make his own clip so that he could be a part of our reading centers. We think he wants to practice his reading and writing.

Fun Friday!

It was gingerbread week this week! We worked on gingerbread man writing, math, and science. Here are a few pictures from math and science. Enjoy!

In math, we are working on sorting and classifying. Today we sorted by color. Our categories were red, green, and white.

In science, we used our senses to observe what would happen if a gingerbread man cookie got wet.

Snowflake's second week!

Well, Snowflake was busy once again this week! My cupcakes love to find him every morning and see what he was up to while we were away.

On Monday, Snowflake decided to take a nap in and snack on Mrs. Dapcic's fresh new bag of candy cane Hershey Kisses!
On Tuesday, he wrote the word "Hi" on our window using the kisses. At least he put the rest in our "Kiss Your Brain" jar so we could have some after reading centers!

On Wednesday, Snowflake decided to read from our classroom library. He probably saw my cupcakes having fun reading books and wanted to try it too! Snowflake chose a book all about the letter "Ss". I wonder why??
On Thursday, we got a special note from Santa! He wanted us to write to him about what Snowflake had been up to the past few days. Snowflake got cozy in Mrs. Dapcic's fabulous name sign.
On Friday, Snowflake brought another note from Santa! He said he loved our writing and had fun reading about Snowflake's adventures. Mrs. Claus sent Snowflake back with some very special "North Pole Sugar" and "Magic Cookie Seeds" to plant. We can't wait to see what happens when we plant them!

Our Hospital Performance!

My cupcakes were invited to sing at the Morton Plant Mease North Hospital tree lighting ceremony. We only had a week to practice and get our outfits together, but they did GREAT!! I am so proud of you all!
