Fun Friday!

Snowflake the elf really put us in the holiday spirit! Today, we made patterns using one of Mrs. Dapcic's favorite things, SEQUINS! We decorated ornaments using patterns. We made AB, AAB, ABC, and AABB patterns.

Snowflake Week 1

My cupcakes have voted on an Elf name.......SNOWFLAKE! Snowflake has been a very busy elf this week. I took a picture of his mischief everyday. Check it out below!

On Tuesday, Snowflake brought us a Christmas tree to decorate!

On Wednesday, Snowflake decorated our classroom with glittery snowflakes.

On Thursday, Snowflake sat up on our SMATBoard and watched us work on our performance for the tree lighting ceremony at the hospital.

On Friday, Snowflake brought us jingle bells to wear for our performance at the hospital. He also brought us some peppermint marshmallows for the hot chocolate we will be having during Fun Friday!

The Elf has arrived!

What an exciting Monday! We got a special delivery from the North Pole today. The box was cold and got glitter all over Mrs. Dapcic's desk! We took the box upstairs to the media center to open it together with Ms. Tracy our media specialist. Here is what we found...

First we made some predictions....

Next, Mrs. Dapcic cut the tape off....

Then, we opened the box and found MORE glitter!

Then, we found an Elf!

Finally, Ms. Tracy read us the story that came with our Elf.

Stay tuned because we are going to be naming our Elf and tracking his mischief daily!

Fun Friday! (On Thursday)

We moved our Fun Friday activity to Thursday this week because we are going to be very busy with our vehicle parade today! We had a mini Thanksgiving party in class. Well, not a whole dinner but the best part...DESSERT! We made mini chocolate pies! My cupcakes had to learn how to follow a recipe for pudding and how to use a measuring cup. We sure had a lot of fun! Thank you to Miss Lydia for donating the pie crusts. :)

Vroom Vroom! Land, Air, or Water?

We have been learning about transportation in reading. As a culminating activity the students were assigned the task of creating a vehicle with their families at home. The vehicles turned out so well! We are having a vehicle parade on Friday with all of kindergarten classes and the students will be presenting information about their vehicles to their fellow kindergarteners.

Fun Friday

Gobble gobble! We practiced our math vocabulary with turkeys today. We have been working on geometry this month, but we did not want to stop practicing our number sense skills. We reviewed "greater" and "less" today with turkey feathers. Check it out!

Coming soon....

My cupcakes are becoming quite the little authors! Kindergarten writing is so fun because I can watch the children develop their skills and see how they begin to use all of their new knowledge. My best friend and fellow kindergarten teacher Miss Cabral (from Watergrass Elementary) and I are going to collaborate this year in writing. Our classrooms will be video chatting and sharing pieces of writing to help celebrate our young authors! Stay tuned for more information and pictures of our collaboration.

Miss Cabral and I have always loved to share teaching ideas and we also enjoy attending professional development events together to get inspired! Our favorite event was the four day International Reading Association conference in Orlando. We were able to see "The Sisters", Dick Allington, and Regie Routman speak. We were definitely super fans and had a lot of fun learning that week!
